Who is the Modular Group and what do they do?

The MWD Modular Group is comprised of a group of MWD members that are dedicated to preserving the heritage of toy trains. The group meets in different public venues to share the joy of trains with other enthusiests. From time to time the Modular group sets up the Tune Up Corner. The Tune Up Corner invites the public to bring in their trains that have been stored for years and club members will preform routine maintainance and minor repairs to get your trains running again. If you would like to join the group or just be apart of one event email us at Generalinfo@MWD-TCA.org Check out the Division calendar page for places, dates & time.

MWD and TRAINFEST 2009

Back on November 14th and 15th, in Milwaukee, the Midwest Division Modular Group participated in Trainfest 2009. Once again, with " The World Famous Train Races" the group was a big hit. Most, if not all, of the people and exhibitors that attended the show, stopped by the race to cheer on the young engineers.
During the weekend our very own Ron Miller and his wife Sheri, invested some time over at the Lionel booth. Seeking a solution to their problem of their LionMaster Big Boy not putting out any Smoke, they consulted with Mr. Mike Ragen, of Lionel. He explained to them, that the new Lionel legacy system would take care of it. Just to prove it, they took their locomotive over to a display equipped with the Legacy System. To Ron and Sheri's delight, smoke billowed from the stack, and the loco sounded better than ever.
Ron thanked Mike for his assistance in finding the solution to the smoke issues. Ron and Sheri explained to Mike, that the Modular Group currently does not have the Legacy System on the layout.
Later that day, Mr. Mike Ragen stopped to see what all of the excitement was over at the Train Races. To our surprise, he also donated to the modular group, a complete Legacy System.
Thanks to Ron and Sheri for contacting Mr. Ragen, and Thanks to Mike Ragen for his generous donation of the Legacy System, to the group.
Module Construction Information

Once you have established yourself with the modular group you may be interested in constructing your own module. In order for your module to correctly interface with the other members modules we have established a set of drawings that show detailed construction of the modules. Once you have constructed your own module you can let your creative side out by decorating the module with sceenery and structures. As a general recommendation, prior to making you own module you may want to discuss module construction and get tips from some of the veterans in the group.
